PRINTING

I am having printer problems. What should I do?

Make sure you have met our Initial Set-up Requirements. If you are still having problems, please click here.

My Macintosh has options for US Letter or US Letter Small. Which one do I choose?

Both options are sometimes offered together. If you do have both options available, select US Letter.

The bottom of one page is printing on the next page. What should I do?

Most printing problems can be solved by adjusting your margins and deleting any headers/footers. For instructions on how to do this, please click here. It is important to note that not all printers are the same so you may have to "play around" with your settings to get the perfect result. We suggest that you use the Print Preview option from the File menu at the top of your browser window; this way you will not waste any ink or paper.

How do I set the headers and footers in Internet Explorer back to default?

In Internet Explorer, choose File -> Page Setup. Under the Header section, enter the following:

&w&bPage &p of &P

Under the Footer section, enter the following:

&u&b&d

ACCOUNTS

What does a membership include?

A membership gives you full access and no time restraints to create and print (with your own printer, paper, and ink) an UNLIMITED number of activities for an ENTIRE year.

I want to purchase a membership online with my credit card. What sort of verification will I receive?

You will automatically receive an invoice upon purchasing online with a credit card. To purchase a membership for yourself or a friend, click here.

What is a demo account?

A demo account allows you access to all the activities, but, when you print a created activity, it will have the word "DEMO" printed on it as well.

How do I create a user account?

Click on the "Member's Login" button and click on the hyperlink that says "Click Here." Enter the PIN# you received when you purchased or were given a membership. Now choose a username and password, confirm the password and click the "Submit" button.

How many accounts can I create with my PIN#?

One.

I was given a PIN# as a gift, but, in order to get it to work, I have to fill out the billing info section. Am I going to be billed again?

No, you will not be billed. This is simply contact information for our records.

I have an old PIN# that I never had the time to use. Will this still work?

Yes, your old PIN# will work as long as your membership term (generally a year) has not expired and you never created a user account with it. After you create a user account, you use your username and password to log on.

Can I use the same username and password at home that I have been using at school?

Yes. Once you have a username and password, it can be used on any computer with Internet access and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5.

When I try to enter a username, it tells me the name is already in use. What does that mean?

This means that someone else is already using that name. Each name must be unique. Once you have created your username and password, you can use them on any computer that has Internet access and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5.

I am a new subscriber. Why has my "account expired"?

This message actually refers to the temporary "account" which is created each time you log in. If your window has been inactive for an extended period of time, the temporary account expires; and the next time you click on a link in the Members section, you will be required to log in.

FONTS

Do I have to have your fonts installed?

Only if you want to create activities in fonts other than Arial. They are free to download and easy to install. Click here.

How do I get the fonts for the activities to work?

First click on the this font download link. After you have downloaded the fonts, double-click the icon to install the fonts to your computer. Make sure you have disabled any anti-virus or software-prohibitive programs, as they may interfere with both the download and the installation.

If the fonts are working on one computer but not on another
Try copying the font files from the computer that they are working on to the computer that is having trouble downloading them.

Are some of the font sizes fixed?

Yes, there are a few activities where it is necessary to use a specific font size in order to maintain the integrity of the layout, so the normally adjustable controls are fixed.

ACTIVITIES

How do I delete an item if I spell it wrong or make some other error?

  1. In the Selected Items box, highlight the word that is spelled incorrectly.
  2. Click on the < button to move it to the Available Items box.
  3. Re-enter the word with the correct spelling in the Add Word box to include it in the Selected Items box.

I am having BINGO problems. What do you suggest?

  1. Choose BINGO Boards, not BINGO Chips.
  2. A window asking you 'How many different BINGO Boards...' will appear. Make a numeric selection and click the "Continue" button. This window may be 'hidden' on computers with smaller screens or browsers that default to always appear on top. It can also become hidden if you double-clicked to select the activity. The easiest way to access this window, if it gets hidden, is by using the long bar at the bottom of your screen(the one to the right of the "Start" button). This bar will list all windows currently open. Select each one until you find the 'How many...' window or cycle through all the open windows by holding down the TAB and ALT keys simultaneously.
  3. Now click the "Create Activity" button.

How do I create an activity where students can identify the appropriate definitions for a list of words?

Simply type in a word, then type in its definition and continue alternating until you are through with your list. Then select "Matching (word/def)" as your activity. (Make sure you do NOT select "Matching (2 columns)" unless you want the words and definitions mixed together.) This will generate a 2-column list of words on one side and definitions on the other. Students can then identify which definition goes with which word by drawing a line connecting the two.

How do I create an activity where students can identify the appropriate states for a list of cities?

Simply type in a state, then type in the corresponding city and continue alternating until you are through with your list. Then select "Matching (word/def)" as your activity. (Make sure you do NOT select "Matching (2 columns)" unless you want the states and cities mixed together in each column.) This will generate a 2-column list of states on one side and cities on the other. Students can then identify which city goes with which state by drawing a line connecting the two.

Can this site be used to create math activities for middle school and high school?

Our program is primarily designed for K-6 but offers some materials that can be used in higher grade levels.

In math, for example, there are masters of angles to measure and of a protractor. There are various activities that can be created for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with any numbers you want. So, for example, you could create a test by entering things like:

27% of 892 =
32% of 1053 =
12/17 x 31/39 =

And in our database of words, we offer words/phrases related to algebraic operations, geometry, fractions, probability, statistics and more. These words could be used in activities like word searches, scrambled words or definition cards to help your students learn the correct terminology.

Why aren't the buttons working?

Make sure you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher. It is easy to download and install, and it is FREE!

Are there any instructional materials available to help me learn about the wide variety of activities I can create?

There are a variety of materials available on the site to help you learn and use it.

When you log in, the home page of the Members area has several links along the left-hand side that will take you to instructional materials -- from how-to videos to step-by-step written instructions to FAQs. Also check out our printable sheet of Teacher Tips and Tricks.

Can I transfer a Saved List from an old account to a new account?
